Reviving Hope in Cuba: The Journey of Transformation in Hardship
David Bethany writes:

In my early teens, I traveled with my dad, for a pivotal weekend in Tijuana, Mexico. This trip kindled the spark that ignited my lifelong devotion to answering God's call through missions ministry. Over the past forty years, my path has been one of purpose, leading and participating in missions teams across twenty-two countries and six continents. My mission during the last four decades was to answer God’s call through the construction of churches, feeding kitchens, schools, and homes – a resounding response to God's call, fueled by the call to serve.
For over a decade now, a distinct new calling has resonated deeply within me, urging me towards ministry in Cuba. This time has fostered a deep affection for the Cuban people. While online searches may conjure images of a picturesque island, the reality beneath the surface is one of economic struggles spanning decades, coupled with religious intolerance. The Cuban populace grapples with mounting hardships – prolonged economic downturns, scarcity of essential items, and clean water. In this context, your prayers become an invaluable support. We request you to pray for the ministry of Mission Esperanza in Cuba, for divine intervention to overcome spiritual and social barriers. Our cornerstone need: your consistent prayers.
Witnessing the relentless trials that plague the Cuban people paints a somber picture. My firsthand experiences during visits are a testament to their enduring spirit amidst adversity. These remarkable souls, while lacking life's essentials, radiate warmth and boundless generosity. By God's providence, the Cuban people's resilience prevails, and faith communities flourish.
In English, "Esperanza" translates to hope – a beacon of what we aim to deliver to the Cuban people. Our commitment manifests in facilitating ministry training conferences within Cuba, bridging the chasm of need for comprehensive leadership guidance. Cuban ministry leaders fervently seek pastoral and leadership training and guidance in nurturing new congregations. With the resolute mission of aligning with God's purpose, this new ministry is standing ready to extend the light of knowledge, faith, and hope to the people of Cuba.
